Job Title: Direct Support Professional (Part-Time)
Location: 55 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT
Pay: $21.50 per hour
Mileage Reimbursement: $0.55 per mile
Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM, flexible hours)
Dress Code: Business Casual

Position Overview:
I am a Self-Advocate for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in the West Region, Private Division, with 7 years of experience, and will be celebrating my 8th year in May 2025.
I am seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist me with a variety of responsibilities related to advocacy work, community engagement, and the development of self-advocacy programs.
This role will provide valuable support to help me manage multiple tasks, assist in public speaking engagements, and contribute to activities that impact individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Double-check work for accuracy (emails, presentations, documents).
Collaborate with team members across different divisions and organizations.
Actively participate in meetings, discussions, and community events.
Provide guidance to individuals with disabilities.
Assist with preparation and practice for public speaking engagements, presentations, and training sessions.
Travel to various state offices and work events in the field.
Participate in DDS position interviews and assist with panel discussions.
Organize and facilitate Self-Advocacy group meetings with new providers.
Attend and contribute to work-related events, including fun activities and community outings.
Provide transportation to work-related events, as needed.
Attend virtual and in-person meetings.
Assist with day-to-day tasks and provide general support as needed

Qualifications:
Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Personal Qualities: Outgoing, teachable, and supportive. Enjoyable to be around and able to engage with individuals in a positive and meaningful way.
Skills: Must have good attention to detail, be an effective note-taker, and possess basic computer skills.
Flexibility: Ability to lead activities and work flexible hours as needed.
