Description
Job Description:
Give in home and community support to a sweet individual with intellectual disabilities.
Duties & Responsibility:
Transport to local community (stores, library, etc.).
Help with socialization and appropriate behavior in the community through established preferred routines including; going for walks, shopping, bowling, paint and party, etc..
Support with safety awareness in the community.
Keep client engage at home with arts and crafts, home chores, watching tv shows, and playing card games.
Apply creative approaches to managing social interactions.
Implement a behavior plan.
Skills, competencies/ Characteristics Desired:
Have strong clear English communication skills.
Respectful of client’s need for patience and repetition when learning new skills.
Lived experience or willing to work with an individual with behavior issues.
Can create safe, respectful, and positive environment.
Prior experience in education or working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred.
Female Employee preferred.
Requirements:
Have a passion for working with special needs individuals.
Experience, training, or education in special education.
Experience or training in adaptive communication desirable.
Experience or training in managing challenging behaviors.
Reliable transportation & cell phone number
Valid U.S. work authorization
Clear CORI and national background check with fingerprint
Hours and Pay:
Weekday Hours: 20
M-F 1:00pm-5:00pm
Weekend Hours: 3-5 hours 2 Saturdays a month, flexible
Pay-rate: $20-$26 per hour, depending on education and experience.
