How it works

Young man jumping with female direct care worker
  1. Contact your local provider agency to get an access code, which will allow you to have a free long-term subscription. Click here for provider agencies in your region.
  2. After you receive your access code, you need to establish an account by clicking here. Enter the code you received   through the mail or from your provider agency on the Access Code line. You will use the access code only one time.
  3. Then you may search the list of available direct care providers.
  4. After you find one or more people who meet your specific needs, you contact them by phone or email to arrange an interview.
  5. When you find someone who meets your needs and who wants to work for you, you hire that person. Click here for hiring tips. You may need additional assistance identifying, interviewing, conducting reference and national background checks, or becoming the employer of record. Contact your provider agency or Vermont Center for Independent Living.

(Note: State funded programs have their own procedures for hiring a worker. If you have questions, please contact the agency that is assisting you.)

Although this service is a subscription service, there is no fee for residents of Vermont. After you register, you get unlimited access to all the names of available care providers for 12 months. You may re-register at no charge for an additional 12-months for as long as you have the need.

Job candidates in the Rewarding Work database have NOT been screened in any way and their backgrounds have NOT been checked. That is your responsibility as an employer.

If you represent an agency in Vermont that provides services for elders and people with disabilities, you may apply for a free access code. Click here for more information or call toll-free at 866-212 WORK (9675). E-mail
